Un mercado que marcha al ritmo de tres regiones

Diferencias para tener en cuenta
En la actualidad China está constituida por, al menos, tres sistemas, tres regiones o tres mercados bien diferenciados. Este es, sin duda, un dato de importancia estratégica para los empresarios locales al momento de decidir qué exportar, hacia dónde dirigir sus productos o servicios, y con quién asociarse en este gigantesco mercado en vías de expansión.

Se puede definir un primer sistema, constituido por Hong Kong, y un segundo por Shanghai y las provincias aledañas de Jiangzu, Zhejiang y Anhui, que se levantan dentro del denominado "Delta del Yang-Tse", en una entidad caracterizada por un conjunto de submercados interactivos.

Un tercer sistema estaría formado por el resto de China que, a pesar de representar el 76 por ciento de la población, tiene un PBI per cápita de un 22 por ciento menor al promedio nacional, de 849 dólares.

Potencial

Las cuatro entidades del segundo sistema representaron en 1999 el 24 por ciento del PBI nacional, aunque en ella sólo vive el 15 por ciento de la población total del país, es decir, casi 200 millones de personas.

El PBI per cápita es nueve veces superior al promedio nacional y sus exportaciones representan el 27 por ciento del total, con 52.800 millones de dólares (ver página 10). Es bien sabido que para estas provincias las ventas externas implican uno de los vehículos más importantes para generar riqueza y progreso económico.

En Shanghai y sus alrededores están hoy instaladas las primeras 500 empresas del mundo y la inversión externa directa acumulada en los últimos 10 años supera a la de todo el mundo en su conjunto
